About Wheat Proteome
wheatproteome.org. This website provides a range of ‘omics data types in
an easily accessible format currently based around the 2014 IWGSC Triticum aestivum
chromosome assembled draft genome release. The core of this database is an organ and
developmental stage proteomic study which profiles 24 sample types seen in the clickable
image on the home page.
Five RNAseq datasets with accompanying contextual information in the form of annotation
and integration with a whole cell metabolic network are also available. This database
serves as a tool for the creation and retrieval of targeted proteomic assays.
The ‘mass westerns’ contained within have the potential to make protein level quantitative data broadly available to wheat researchers and breeders, which in conjunction with a mass spec core facility avoids the need for specific expertise, lengthy development time and low throughput associated with traditional protein quantitation techniques. We sincerely hope that this resource will support the work of the wheat community in ensuring food security for the worlds billions through 2050 and beyond.
In the future this resource will be updated to include the new TGACv1 assembly and other new genome releases available on Ensembl Plants.
Best wishes from the wheatproteome.org team: Owen Duncan, Josua Trösch, Ricarda Fenske, Nicolas Taylor, A. Harvey Millar.
